Srila Prabhupada, the founder of ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness), emphasized the Bhagavad Gita as a cornerstone of spiritual knowledge and practice. His translation and commentary, Bhagavad Gita As It Is, is considered one of the most influential interpretations of the text in modern times.

Srila Prabhupada referred to Bhagavad Gita as "the essence of Vedic knowledge and a key Upanishad within Vedic literature." He viewed it as a crucial guide for liberating humanity from material ignorance and offering a practical for spiritual awakening. He emphasized that the Gita teaches to lead a meaningful life comprehend one's duty (dharma), and develop detachment from worldly desires. According to him, everyone should engage with its teachings for their own advantage.

Srila Prabhupada viewed the Bhagavad Gita as a timeless spiritual guide meant to uplift humanity by fostering devotion, self-realization, and harmony with divine principles. Through ISKCON's efforts, his teachings continue to inspire individuals worldwide.

The founder-acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) is His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Born as Abhay Charan De on September 1, 1896, in Calcutta, he was formally initiated into Gaudiya Vaishnavism in 1933 by Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur, who inspired him to spread Vedic knowledge in English.Srila Prabhupada dedicated his life to promoting Krishna consciousness globally. In 1965, at the age of 69, he traveled to the United States and established ISKCON in New York City in 1966. Through his teachings, translations, and commentaries on sacred texts like the Bhagavad Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam, he introduced the principles of bhakti yoga and the Hare Krishna mantra to millions worldwide.
